Take care of the new one. Oil changes every 30k. If you dont already have a heavy duty cooler, get one. Also remove the inline check valve in the cooler line.

Good luck.

Get a shift kit installed, that helps save the clutches, and a good cooler installed.

best of luck with the rest of the the truck.

Yes, most shops take the check valve out since its been known to clog up and restrict flow. There might be more reasons, but thats what the shop that did mine told me.

The check valve is to prevent the oil from draining all to the pan, but from what I have heard from others with the CV removed there are no adverse issues. Some say you have to let it idle for a bit, but I never have (in the summer at least).

Thats pretty much it.

The check valve keeps the fluid in the cooler from draining back into the pan. And yeah the check valve will get clogged up with debris and stop cooler flow. That means no lubrication for the hard parts in your transmission.

Ill have to snap a picture of the next ram that comes in so you can see exactly where the valve is.

It is, but a picture is worth a thousand words. Dont want anybody cutting the wrong hose.

And thank you.

I think the lowest mileage transmission ive ever rebuilt was at 36k. It was in a ford windstar.
