Default Fuel pressure prior to starting? 1999 5.2L

When you turn on the key, should you have 49psi from the schrader valve on the fuel rail or only after starting?

Also, does anyone know a cheaper way to measure the fuel pressure (rig a fitting to fit the valve on the fuel rail) other than a $40 gauge from Autozone?

Thanks,

Frank

It will be 49psi as long as it's engaged and at idle.

As far as the gauge,if you're looking to test your pressure, you're going to have to spend the money for it.Cheaper than taking it to a shop.

You still need the fitting, hose and gauge, so what is there to rig?
