hey everyone iam new here and i will be going to the new users section to post another thread but on this one i have just bought a 99 single cab 1500 4x4 with the 5.2 and i tried out my 4x4 today and it makes like a knocking noise when ever i give it a lil gas it doesnt make noise putting it into 4hi but when i start going and give it gas is when it makes that i plan on fixin it i just wanted to see if yall might have had the same problem... thanks

 

check the front drive shaft, its got that complicated double u-joint thing. there should be no play in any of the joints.

if its not obvious where the noise is coming fro, try to put it up on 4 jack stands and engage 4wd and safely inspect it while its turning.

 

Are you on pavement? Are you turning the wheel at all? What about in 4L? Does it happen reverse as well?

 

yea iam on pavement... and i havent tried 4L and yea in reverse as well and while iam askin anyone know how to fix no reverse lights lol i have checked all fuses and replaced the bulbs but still nothing ......

 

i tired it out in 4L but it will not let me engaged it unless it trucks off and not moving this is diff compared to my 99 durangos transfer case i had to be rolling at 5 mph to switch it but i can only engaged this one while the trucks still and when its in 4L it will hardly move and i cant disengage it or put the truck in park till i turn it off first if i try it grinds like nasty
