I work at a small mechaic shop (I drive the tow truck, I do not work on cars... well most of the time I dont), and I can say the number 1 reason people get there cars towed is the fuel pump going out. Most time if its a no-start car when I get there ill see if she cranks, if crank is fine ill smack the tank a few times and if its the fuel pump, most times they will fire right up. And man oh man can the pumps be costly, some are over 600 bucks.. cost!
The funny thing about fuel pumps is there one of those rare parts that when there "broke" they can still work fine.. then all the sudden decide not to work for awhile just to work again later. And they dont always throw up a CEL. So your buddies computer (DRB is what we use) may not detect the problem. I personally would not put anymore money into it, keep the pump handy and next time she dont start beat the tank and if she fires up, replace the pump.. and drop the tank, its way easier (but I can understand why with no tools, a full tank and 4 dudes stuck at a gas station you would take off the bed... hell I woulda too!) but a floor jack and a few pieces of wood (to makeup the difference incase the jack dont reach) is the best way togo.

this exact same thing happened to me this morning. i have thrown 2500 bucks into this truck and i fill it up with gas, go in the store, come out and it wont start. I had to have it towed back to the house.

except i replaced my fuel pump 6 months ago. replaced the relay today too, nothin.

EXACT same symptoms.

Cool same thing

truck will not start but turns over. ran fine any other day. took to garage and they pulled a code po335 which is the crank position sensor. engine light came on when it malfunction but goes out when it is okey? weird. i do not know if this is on your truck but worth checking out before spending a bunch of money on it to find the cause, one item at a time.
Hopes this helps, Thx Tim.

I think the Dodge gods are mad at us. I replaced coil, cap, rotor, plugs, wires, battery terminals, and K&N drop-in air filter today and so far so good. But I just know it will wait until I'm like 50 miles from home before it f's up again. Only time will tell.

BTW I really like your truck motorbrreath.
