welder kit, sawzall kit,lol.......... i don't think there is one, because these motors are tpi's( tb and injectors) and with a computer to control that, and you will be go to a Carburetor set up so no computer needed... and also your trans is a RE so you will problemly need to get a new one.."727 trans i would hope"... so i think your on your own the this .... hope this helps

I think you might need an "Imagination Swap". Putting a 440 into one of our Rams is a pretty serious undertaking. At the least, you will need a Trans, TBI controller (or the old school carbed version), mounts, upgraded front suspension for the extra weight, Radiator, custom drive shaft for the new trans, and about a dozen other things.

For the amount of money you are going to spend, you can just go buy a Used Ram Diesel... Around here, 03+ 2500 Diesels are going for 4-9k with under 100k miles on them. Truck's are a dime a dozen these days.

Usually not the one to burst anyones bubble.. But swap will be costly. Ive personally had a 3.9 swapped with a 5.9 with minor problems.. but 440 is a completely different ball park. Comes down to how much your willing to pay.

It wont be difficult to get it in the truck and running, for the carb you will not need a hot wire for the coil, and a hot to the starter. Problems will be the fact that the front suspension is already weak, so you will have to go through that, have a driveshaft fabbed up, remove the in tank fuel pump, and it should be drivable for the most part, but you will run into things such as the heat and A/C not working, no speedo, tach and other gauges because they are all controlled through the PCM, now it might be possible to leave the PCM in place, but you still would have no tach or speedo.

You will also run into the rear end blowing up, and the fact the brakes wont be enough to stop the truck.

Ive seen it done once, and its a sweet swap, but IMHO its much easier to do a 408 stroker.

I am currently undertaking the same task and yes there is a lot to be done i have to strengthen the entire frame to hold up to my 440 and a ford 9inch swap in the back new driveshaft upgraded front end parts upgraded brakes font and back and re design the entire fuel delevery and ignition system the heater will still work but air conditioning will be hard to figure out not to mention all the fab work to mount it in the truck.

My truck is a 97 1500 standard cab here are some of the parts i have bought already.

440
edelbrock aluminum victor heads (they were on backorder 4 a year)
edelbrock victor intake
wiseco fordged pistons
eagle fordged steel crank and connecting rods
msd 6al box
msd pro billet distributor
msd blaster 2 coil
arp studs

i have more parts to buy before i trade motors but i am using an nv4500 5speed tranny 4 the swap

check out my truck in my photo album it is the 2 wheel drive thats getting the swap

Just like how I use to swap 440's and 383's in Darts and Dusters.... use a motor plate. It sandwiches between the water pump housing and the block. Goes from frame rail to frame rail. Just go shop at an older Mopar parts house and you'll find one. The trans mounting will be a whole other issue though that you would have to fab up.

I am in the middle of doing this swap right now, and it is a ton of work. you need to change just about every thing in your truck. Motor mounts, cross member under the motor, tranny cross member, fuel pump, body lift, 3/4 ton front springs, adapt you radiator hoses to the big ones on the 440, and custom drive shafts. Thats just a start and not to mention all the little stuff like shift linkage and the electric junk but it will be a really cool swap when done, but this not for the beginner.
