im looking for a bigger engine for my 96 ram. had a 5.2 but cracked the heads, what can i drop in that will be an easy switch, doesnt have to be fuel injected... any suggestions?
i have been wanting if my engine ever goes.... a 383, i dont know what it would take or if it would work, and the 5.9 would be simple, and another thing i think we have all seen, the new 5.7 or even the new 6.1 hemi
A V10 is pretty nice too, but if I had to go with a different engine, Id take the Hemi, although youd probably need the tranny/computer as well. Then again, youd probably need both of those for most engine swaps.
The 5.2 and 5.9 had the same trannies, but you would need the computer. The 8.0 V10 had a 47RE (as opposed to the 46RE), so there you would need a tranny.
the new hemis you need comp and prolly trans or trans adapter. v10, as said will need a computer. The v10 will bolt to the 46rh/re but it depends on how strong your internals are to know how long it will hold up under extra power.

As far as I know the V10 & Cummins will both bolt to the 47RE / 47RH only & NOT the 46RE/46RH.
