Default exhaust help

im looking for an exhaust thats not blow your face off when i rev the engine. iv looked at some of the flowmasters and theyre too loud for me, especially the super 40 or 44s... i think. cherry bombs are too loud also. i want a low mellow rumble that sounds good at low rpms and i want to be able to hear the radio with the windows up. so far i think the dynomax turbo si/so would be a good choice. i have a 360.
edit** i also want a nice rumble when its revved... im done with the crap stock exhaust.

Flow Master 50 or 60 series is what you want then. American Thunder by Flowmaster to be exact. I think it comes with a 60, but the last one I got had a 50 and it sounds great.

magnaflows are awesome, i love mine. its quiet when i want and loud when i need it.

I'm not a fan of flowmaster's because everyone has them and so it won't set you apart. And they don't flow as well as magnaflow or spintech.

The Super 40s and Super 44s are supposed to have just as good a flow. And magnaflows have become popular enough they don't set you apart anymore either, IMO. Not dissing them, they do sound nice, just pointing those factors out.

But really, almost any high flow cat and muffler will be better than stock.

In 1999 or so they switched to a 2.5"/3" combo. The converter has a 3" inlet with 2.5" out (or a reducer to 2.5"), to a 2.5" muffler in/out, and then right before it makes the curve to exit out the side behind the passenger tire it expands to 3".

All I did was replace my muffler and get a high flow cat, and I noticed instant difference. Of course, I already had the Volant, so the increased air flow worked in combination with it, I'm sure.

My 98 is 3" (stock).
I don't know the brand of my muffler, it has a stock look to it, but it sounds okay. When you open the throttle it acts like a stock muffler, but at low RPMs it had a nice mellow tone. When it rots, I want to get a 70 SUV series.
Here is a review i found on that model.

the stock muffler on my 2001 was 38" long. Yes, 3 ft 2 inches. The more I listen to my magnaflow and the slight drone it creates, the more I think that the stock one had to be that long to kills that horrible sound. I have a resonator welded up in front of the magnaflow I have and it has helped a bit, but not as much as I would like. I may be going for a new larger muffler soon if it will fit under there. Perhaps a whole new catback system is in order as much as I've had the exhaust system chopped on.
