i just bought the haynes for a general idea of what i was doing since this is a big project for me. ill try that today that if i get home from work. thanks for the help
no special trick for the pinion shaft.
completely remove the lock bolt,
then rotate it around where you can get at the end of the shaft.
use a block of wood and hit it a hammer.
its snug - but it should slide right out.

just taking a short brake from working on my truck. i got the pinion shaft out. c clip for the axle/ axle out. backing plate off new one on and now im just putting it all together. thank you for the help and i will be posting pictures really soon.
ok now after im done for the day here is my update of what is left.
i have to assemble the back brakes, put fluid in the axle, bleed the brakes, get a new bumper, new headlights/corner lenses to, and im pretty sure i have to get a new steering box. when i last drove the truck i had to have the wheel turned 90 degrees to drive straight. and its the second time i have had it happen and last time it was the steering box. any other ideas what it is?
