Exclamation oil pressure

How much oil pressure do you guys have? or how much should i have? i have a 95 5.2 and it always has 40psi or less after it gets warm. i will have a little bit ove 40 when its cold but when it get to about 180 it drops down (i would think i would drop but not whole alot). It floats around when its warm, sum times at idle it will be 40 if i'm luckLy most of the time less. so when i take off the pressure will go down, is this right? will try to get a pic to show.... and yes i did search and all i found was 40psi at idle.... any input at all would be great.. thank you.

At cold idle, mine is around 45, warm idle around 35.

When driving its above 40.

All of this of course is read off the factory "dummy" gauges.

I don't think you have a prob, those pressures are around normal. Want to make sure? Change the sending unit or put in an aftermarket mechanical gauge and sending unit.

you check your plenum gasket recently? i was runnin around that with a blown one until i put the m1 intake on it. Now it holds steady right at 40.

i don't think a plenum would have anything to do with oil pressure. oil pressure is a measurement of the oil pressure that's output from the oil pump, as its pressurized against the oil journals (which are controlled leaks). so pressure can vary based upon pickup tube, oil pump, crank and cam bearing wear, similar ports in the valve train, oil filter, etc.

a leaking plenum might suck oil out of the crankcase, but i don't see how that would affect oil pressure at all.

yeah i understand that vaughan. i just figured id throw that in there since it did change after elimination of the plenum gasket.

i was always told it will sit a little lower at idle and jump up a hair under acceleration.
