My dad and mom have newer vehicles than me. In each (a Chevy and a Ford), when they turn the key on, then off, the radio stays on, and you can roll the windows up and down for a certain time period or the doors open. What controls this, the body controller? And, more importantly, can I make mine do this?
That's a newer "courtesy feature" based on customer feedback or a daydreaming think-tanker. It'll be more trouble than it's worth to try to splice wires and make sure you don't overload a circuit.

Not to nitpick, but I don't think it's a newer feature. Before I bought my truck, I owned a '92 Taurus, a '91 Firebird, and a '95 Mercury Sable, and they all had that feature. In fact, this truck is the only vehicle I've ever driven that doesn't have this.
The annoying thing is my Pioneer takes a while to load, and I cut my truck off to wait to save gas a lot, and it's annoying to have to cut the truck back on to roll windows up... I'm just wondering. Can a security system do that? Thank you all.....
My 08 has the power delay feature. I couldn't even imagine the wiring nightmare to rig something like that up so the power doesn't go out until you open the door!!!!
