At my place of business, we use fuel coolers on prime power diesel generator sets. There is supposed to be a net HP gain. It will be interesting to see how yours comes out.

Its been bugging me for years so now's the time to get an answer... keep in mind the test ride is a vw jetta 1.8 turbo as I dont have a setup for the diesel ram & no longer have a gasser ram. the effects will be the same though... if there is a bump or loss I'd expect that a % of change should be a good guesstamate of what you'd get on a different application.

as promised... you guys are the 1st to know... preliminary data show'd a 9.5% bump in hp... this taken from the dyno sheet peaks, averaged. 2 runs w/o & 2 runs with on a heat soaked motor. Still @ work on business travel so I wont be able to digest the full data until tonight or tomorrow morning...

yup on the gasser jetta, the dyno guy was shocked when he saw a +15 hp bump... that bump however was worst case to best case and not average... averaged peak hp gave a 9.5% bump. I just got home from San Jose... 110 miles, 10:15pm and I'm wiped out. when i get some time tomorrow I'll go thru the data and average the 2 runs w/o cooler then the 2 with cooler and pick it apart after that.

I'll post the data in a new thread and link it here...

Cool! I might just try to modify the Ram and put a cooler on the fuel line If I even see half of that, it'll be good for the upcoming mods (Hughes 2.02 heads, Cam, and Gibson Headers). I've already wrapped the fuel rails, might as well go all the way.

IIRC you did this to your '00 Ram right? What cooler did you use and where did you mount it? Fittings you used, etc...

I have a cheeper solution... will get back to it later tonight when I have time to think. and yes it was on the 2000 ram 5.9... gave me 6.5% better fuel economy on the hiway.
