Default Tires

I currently run 285/70/17 Pirelli Scorpion ATRs. It's a very nice tire, but I hate it on my truck. Too soft of a tread for a dodge, and their width has been an eye sore for me since day 1. I bought them in June from VIP and I have 5500 miles on them. The tires came with a 30 day warranty, so I have exceeded the time frame. However I called them Friday and spoke with their manager who we are close with. I told him how I've been disappointed with the scorpions and that I wanted to know if they could pull off getting my money back for a new tire. He says since we give them a lot of business he may be able to pull some strings. If he can swing it I'll be very relieved. I am aching to purchase the Procomp All-Terrains in a 33/12.5/17. I'll get my width back and the meatier tread I desire for winter. They are supposed to ride smooth and are severe weather rated. I may have wanted to stay with these Pirellis if my gas mileage and power improved, but it's the same. I'm hoping it will work out and I can get the look of my truck back, it's been depressing..

If it was me, I'd worry more about saving my money up for a new, reputable tranny, rather than spending it on new tires. If he'll do an even trade, fine, but most likely he'll give you some credit back for the Pirellis (best case), but not all, and you pay the difference for the Procomp A/Ts.

Isn't this the same place that tried to screw you over with NAPA shocks, or am I getting it confused with some other place?

This is a different place. I'm hoping he can swing me full refund. I paid $730 for these tires new. The pro comps cost $920. It's relatively bad timing, however, time is running against me on trying to get rid of these tires while they are still new. I'll know I'll regret if I don't at least try.

I just had a set of 265/75R16 Yokohama Geolandar A/T-Ss installed. I am pretty happy with them, excellent reviews at Tire Rack. They are also a D load rated tire, nice for hauling the horses. $638 out the door at Discount Tire, they had a nice sale on them at the their outlet site, http://www.discounttiredirect.com/direct/home.do which any local store will price match.

I'd go with either a Toyo MT or a BFG MT if you want a nice looking tire.

Those tires would be too aggressive for me, I just want a tire that will ride smooth and have somewhat of a meaty tread to it. You can't beat the snowflake on the procomp or the warranty. It supposedly rides quite smooth too, something I really like having. Plus, a Toyo or a BFG usually cost around $1100-$1200, something I don't want to spend, $900 is already crazy in my mind. First I have to find out if VIP will even take my tires back, I'll be psyched if they do.

I use general grabbers...they make very little noise, ride smooth, and do exactly what their name says, grab!

mine are 305/70/r16 and I paid $160 per tire so figure $640 for all of em

I want to go with the winterforce, 225/75/16 with studs in the rear, I only have two wheel drive, the winters here in northern IL can get rough, anyone ever have these?
