Smile 01 Dodge Ram Help/Advice

Hi everybody. Ive just recently gained my frist truck. Its a 01 dodge ram 1500 sport. 5.9l White. Some minor things done to it nothing serious. The truck has 80,000 miles on it and is in great shape nothing wrong with it! It has been well taken care of, very clean underneath. Reason why im posting here is that i have a few questions that i could use some help with.
1. I know dodge has tranny problem, mine hasnt started with one yet. I was wondering if there is anything i could do to help prevent this from happening. Some kind of update kit ive been hearing around with my friends. Is this true? And if so what does it help with in the tranny.
2. I want to do 2 things to it very soon. I want to put different gears in the front and rear end. Thinking 4,10 gears.
3. Want a 6 inch lift kit. I dont need anything spectacular, but i want something nice already have a set 35 inch tires on 20inch rims to put.

ANY i mean ANY advice or tips people can give me would be greatly appreciated. Ive always wanted a truck to make big and fun but i want to keep it on the road with no MAJOR problems. Thanks to all that give me a helping hand!

+1 on the trans flush and filter. If I can't find the money for a new transmission I'm going to get a transgo shift kit and a transmission cooler, that may be something you want to look into. If your definately going to 35 inch tires you should look into getting 4.56 gears instead of 4.10s.
Just remember to do research and not take anything as gospel.

(that is true) you might already have a trans cooler from factory if it does you'll find between the radiator and condensor if not sure call dealership parts and give them your last eight of your vin they can tell you if it came equiped with towing package

I've got the tow package equiped trans cooler and I don't think its worth keeping around when you can get a good cooler for around a hundred bucks.

If its gone 80,000 miles without a flush, I wouldn't flush the tranny. I'd change the fluid/filter, as they others here described, but don't flush. Hard on the tranny after that many miles to flush out all the gunk, can cause problems.

Thats my two cents.

Definetly go 4.56 gears if your going to run 35's. I've ran both 4.10 and 4.56 with 33's and 35's, and trust me, 4.56 with 35's is were you want to be.
