Anyone using EBC slotted, and dimpled rotors?
I do adjust the rear drums but not that often. I get a lot more life out of pads on other vehicles but for some reason this truck seems to eat them up. The first set I got 15-20k out of. They were Raybestos pads but not the higher end ones just the cheap $60 ones. The next set was OEM pads from the dealer. I got 10-15k out of those and pulled them to lube everything up hoping to get rid of squeeking and they were cracked but still had life left. I don't know what made them crack so I changed them. Then I'm not trying expensive Raybestos like $100. I wanted to try the Hawk pads but due to a mistake a Summit I didn't get them in time so got these locally and will try the Hawks next time. I will see how these do.
Yeah, hard to say if its just a matter of hard braking, oversized tires, and/or brake pads that just wear quickly.
Best of luck with the Hawks, I have only seen good stuff about them. I used to just get the napa ceramic mid grade specials, and they have all held up well.

I got them installed and the initial brake in was really odd.
They state in the rotor instructions there might be a loud groan. They weren't kidding it was soo loud and strong I thought the glove box was going to fall off the truck. I let them cool and did more 35mph moderate stops as instructed by hawk for break in... the noise went away.
As for the whirling noise they make its hardly noticeable with the windows down. once everything breaks in, I will post my findings.
so far i am happy.
