Yep, servo port gives more of a housing temperature than oil temp. Oil can get really hot before port mounted sensor reacts to that. Either bung to the oil pan and sender to there, or to the line that goes to the oil cooler.

Glow shift gauges makes a compression fitting to go on the line I think it's around $20. I'm going to install two temp gauges one before the cooler and after and have one gauge read both.
