Hey guys im just thinking about future mods for my truck and i was wondering i have 3.55 gears right now with 33 inch tires (285/75-R16) and i was wondering if i put a 4 inch lift (just blocks and coil spacers) with 35 inch tires (im thinking 35-12) on 16's which would be better for axle ratio 4.10 or 4.56

 

4.88's for 35's. 4.56's or 4.88's if you're gonna stay with 33's

 

4.10 for 35's unless ya want to be able to roast the tires than go with 4.56's

 

i'd run 4.10 with 33 or 4.56 with 35.

 

i had 4.56's with my 38.5 inch trxus and could turn them over all day long so i think 4.88 is overkill ...gonna kill ya on the express way 4.56 are nice

 

4.88's and 35's is actually pretty close in ratio to 265's and 4.10's like the sport models have. Add in the extra rolling resistance and wind resistance and I think its a good match, IMHO, just a bit on the high end of factory spec. But then again, I err on the side of more power.

My tires are actually 36.5" and I have the 4.56 gearing. I had really wanted the 4.88s, but after driving down the interstate with the 4.56s, I am happy I got them instead. The 4.88s would have made it have even easier to get it moving from a stop, but it would've probably killed my highway driving. Right now it runs at around 2,200rpm at 70 mph in overdrive on the interstate. This feels just about right where it should be. If I had the 4.88s, I believe the rpms would be around 2,500rpm and my awesome 10mpg would have been reduced to even less. I am voting for the 4.56s with your 35" tires. I think you'll be happier with that combination for daily driving.
