My towing competition with a 350 chevy. no pics :(
It's not because I"m not looking. I grew up in Chevy country- the midwest farm belt. EVERYBODY owned chevy. I wanted a nice black Z71 with the "famous" 350. Couldn't find one anywhere so I checked out Dodge and found my girl. When I moved out west, I was counting trucks and for every 1 chevy there were 2 fords and for every ford there was 2 dodges. Out west there are way more Dodges and Fords than chevys and most are diesels. Like, I said, I hardly see any of the 94-98 style chevy trucks on the road anymore. Lots of tahoes though.
1993: 360-230hp 350-210hp
1996: 360-230hp 350-255hp
1998: 350-245hp 350-255hp
2001: 360-250hp 350-255hp
Chevy moved up to the vortec motors in 96. The vortec motors and the LT1 motors are tied in second for best domestic motor ever made. Of course the LS series motors are the best.

True, they had more HP on paper, but in real world contests, time and time again, the Dodge engine was more powerful. Just seemed to be able to outdo the supposedly more powerful Chevrolet engine, except in MPGs. Up until they got rid of the 350 pretty much in 1999. Did they have it in their commercial side or something until 2001?
Now the 5.3L and 6.0L engines are whole different story.

Thank you Mr. Argumentative for telling how we are wrong all the time. Does it ever get old starting s*** ? or constantly being negative? No wait, don't reply .... I already know the answer and I don't want to see what you have to say.
The funny part is, I wasn't the only one who said that.

I just think its awsome how you act like you know everything because you've installed some HID's and your cousin works for a dodge dealership. Its not always what a person says, its how they say it.

Isnt the 318 only down like 10 or 20hp from the 360? My fathers truck is a very good truck but it wouldnt win any pulling or power contest by a long shot. But its a hell of a workhorse.
I wont deny that chevy has its downsides, ill be the first to point them out but i just cant agree that the magnum 360 is more powerful than the 350 vortec. And yes they kept the 305 and the 350 vortecs up to 01. I plan on sticking a 350 vortec in my boat next year.
And i agree, the new LS series motors 4.8, 5.3, 5.7 and 6.0 are a different story, a much, much better story.
I agree. Too much of the Militant anti-chevy/ford fanboyism is coming into play here.
