Its good to have pride in your vehicle, but people can take it too far.

haha as much as i appreciate a good argument over vehicles some of these have gone completely out of context. ford indeed is the single most overrated truck ever, the popularity of a piece of crap escapes me.

however back on topic!

I agree. Its tiring to see threads containing stupid things like "MY DODGE IS SO AWESOME I PULLED OUT A FORD, AHAHAHAH FORD SUCKZZZZ!!!!1111oneoneone"

I'm sure plenty of people have gotten Dodge trucks stuck before...

Couldn't agree more about the Fords. The Vortec engines have more speed, they are more "potent" that way, but when it comes time to work, seems the Dodge engines usually do more. Maybe its just been my experience.

Isnt the 318 only down like 10 or 20hp from the 360? My fathers truck is a very good truck but it wouldnt win any pulling or power contest by a long shot. But its a hell of a workhorse.
Technically, yes, its 220 or 230 compared to 245 or 250. However, as someone who came from driving a 5000-5100 lb 5.2L V8 Dodge Dakota, going to a 5400-ish lb Dodge Ram with the 5.9L, I'll say that my Ram could have beet my Dakota in a race, even before I did my upgrades.

I wont deny that chevy has its downsides, ill be the first to point them out but i just cant agree that the magnum 360 is more powerful than the 350 vortec. And yes they kept the 305 and the 350 vortecs up to 01. I plan on sticking a 350 vortec in my boat next year.
Thank you for "disagreeing" and not saying "You're an idiot!" I appreciate that. We agree to disagree then.

The 350 was a good engine, don't get me wrong. But the 305... I've heard nothing but horror stories.

And i agree, the new LS series motors 4.8, 5.3, 5.7 and 6.0 are a different story, a much, much better story.
Oh yes, and now they have that 6.2.

But now they have the new, redesigned Hemi as well, thats supposed to be faster than them all in the new Ram, although it can't tow as much as the 6.2. We shall see.

My brother and I were talking about tying a chain to a 2002 F-150. My brother had a 96 Ram 4X4 with a 360 and limited slip. The ford was the 4.7 4X4 and the ford pulled my brother. It all has to do with weight and traction. Horsepower and torque don’t come into play until you get the traction to hold the hp you already have. In 4 low that is a lot of traction and even if you get that traction you will start breaking stuff. The heaver the truck the better it will do. The ford that pulled my brother out weighed my brother but the dodge had more hp and torque. The dodge had old hard tires that would not grip. The ford had fresh rubber that had better traction. Talk hp all day and it wont do any good. Tie on to a load and head to a hill then put that same trailer on the other truck and see what he can do.

BTW..Good job pulling him.
If some one is talking smack, I would hook up to and just hope I can shut him up...

The 350 was a good engine and it had the most aftermarket support and research of any v8. However, the 360 was every bit as reliable (with the exception of that $20 plenum) The 360 generally had more power than the 350, for example the 98 350 vortec (last year available in 1/2 ton pickups) had 255 hp and 330 tq the 98 360 magnum had 250 hp and 345 tq. so five less hp and 15 more tq. bottom line magnum wins!

Heya, welcome to the forums.

Next time though, I recommend you checking the date on the thread. This thread has been pretty much dead for two weeks.
