damn those iac's (and tps's). i used to think i understood them. now i just hate them. my latest, seemingly iac problem turned out to be tps.
I just replaced both. The TPS was a BWD brand under warranty, I just told the O'Reilly parts counter guy that it was sweeping on idle (it was jiggling by about 0.03 volts), and they swapped it, no questions asked. The IAC was a AZ suspect brand when I bought it so I overpaid and went with the expensive NAPA one.

you know you can clean the tps right? should never have to replace one on the rams imo... unless it opens up internally.

i like napa parts. you usually pay a little more but it seems like its almost always a better quality product.

Well, the original TPS I tried to mod to get it to 0.75V, it was great for about 4 months, very peppy throttle. Then it threw a CEL and wouldn't let the engine rev past about 3000rpms. Tried reseting the PCM, no dice.

The replacement was the BWD. I didn't want to guess whether the TPS or IAC was causing the problem, and since the BWD had the limited lifetime waranty, O'Reilly didn't have a problem swapping it out. I didn't either.

oh yeah, a little bad news...

KRC hasn't shipped the intake yet. They're waiting on a part from a vendor. I hope they get it soon, I don't want the thing to crack apart on me on the road.

Default erratic pinging

check the egr pipe from the right exhaust manifold to the egr valve.... mine had a minor split & I chased that pinging problem for 3 months trying to nail it down. bypassed the leaky egr pipe and no more pings
the exhaust leak it caused leaned me down enough that it would ping, at first on anything less than 89 octane, and gradually worsened as split enlarged.

imo i half agree. My truck kept stalling and choppy RPMs during idle. I cleaned the TPS and put it back, perfect. Lasted fine for exactly one year and then started doing it again. I went to the junkyard and took one off a jeep. Free=good as new.

It's here:

It's an Edelbrock RPM Air Gap, slightly modified:

Note the injector ports that have been welded on and the adapter to run the TB. Here's a closeup of the adapter.

I still have a bit of work I need to have done to the adapter before I can install it. I need to have it tapped in 3 spots for the NPT fittings for the PCV connection, the vac accessories bracket and the brake booster hose. Going to take it to the local machine shop to talk it over with the machinist tomorrow.

I wonder if there's another way to run all that stuff. Anybody out there done a PCV delete or reroute? And is there another way to link up the booster return and vac accessory set?
