Default Flashpaq or TB?

I'm looking at bumping up the HP on my 98 Ram 5.2 and was wondering what the pro's and con's are between a tuner or a throttle body. The Flashpaq lists the gains at 17hp and 30fp of torque, but I can't find the performance gains of the Fastman TB's. Anybody got any feedback for me. My truck's got an Airaid intake and 3" catback exhaust for mods.

That a dang good question I'd also like to hear from. I thought of getting the 52mm but at that price I better see a difference. Let me know all, thanks.

You will feel a difference, especially on the highway at higher speeds.

A flashpaq is if you never plan anything but a few bolt ons for upgrades. If you plan on doing some other things to the truck (RRs, TB, M1 intake or "keggar mod", etc.), I'd do the TB and then save up for a SCT tuner. Custom flash will be far better than a generic tune.

The TB is the simplest upgrade I've ever done to my truck, even simpler than my CAI. Its what I would do first (and did), and its worth it.

the 3815 will net you more on the butt dyno.its a better bang for the buck.

i really like my fastman though.didnt see big hp gains,it just seemed to make my truck run alot smoother, better response.

i would buy them both again.

A tune requiring high octane gas is the best performance mod. It's the main reason I still have my Ram. My truck is in excellent condition but if I had to remove the tune the for sale sign would go on instantly.

i had the hypertech max energy first.it was pretty good.i sold it to another forum member.i had to wait for a week for my superchip to come,so i drove around with no tuner for a week and could tell a pretty good difference in power.then the 3815 came and i installed it and was happy again.the 3815 will net you more hp than the hypertech.but i did get better gas milage with the hypertech. but better gas mileage is not my goal.

i cannt really comment on the sct because i havent tried it yet. i will be though in the near future.just got some more mods to do before i order a custom tune.but from everything i have read is that it is better.i guess i will have to wait and see after exhaust,1.7rr,and a upgrade on my brakes.i should be doing my brakes and exhaust here in the next couple weeks.

I plan on a TB upgrade and high flow muffler soon. I used to have a 78' ramcharger 360, and I know there is a lot more power to be had from my truck.

thunderz, just curious if you had the death flash done, i had it on mine and my truck was slooooow. when i threw that superchips on, it was a world of diffrence, not lying. i would try it, and if you dont like it send it back and get the fastman. but there both good for the price and i notice improvements on both. and thanks you for the comment
