I wouldn't go with the 305, I'd go with LT285/70R17/D because those 305 are E rating so 10ply, D is 8ply. THe height difference is 32.7 for 305 and 32.8 for 285. Unless you really really want that extra width! 10ply will be heavier and more wear on truck from my experience. I ran 10ply and didn't like it and didn't need it unless you are planning to tow heavy heavy stuff!

More information at: http://www.bfgoodrichtires.com/specs...t-a-ko/44.html

I would look into American Tire Company, they are nation wide and will beat ANYONE's prices online or not. I haggled them down to $800 for 285/75R16, that included install cost!

just my thoughts.

Thanks Timidone for the site. I will check them out. I currently run 285/70/17s and I just need a little more width. After running 35" tires, I never got over the size difference. I kinda like the 10 ply E rated scene though. I'm freuqently picking up pallet loads for our company at home depot or towing machinery, I like knowing the tires can handle the loads. I will check them out, thanks!

I have 265/75-16 BFG AT KOs on my '96 2500 4x4. I haven't tried them in mud or snow yet and I haven't driven too much on concrete either so I can't say much about longevity. However, two of my friends have them on their trucks (one a new Chevy 4x4 and the other a 2005 Ram Cummins 4x4). Both of them got seriously stuck on mud/clay roads in western Oklahoma after a torrential downfall. The BFGs had about 1.5 to 2 inches of mud caked on them. The tires might have been able to kick the mud with higher revs but the roads were so slick that they couldn't do more than a crawl. I don't know if any tires could have handled this situation.

This experience caused me to buy some good chains just in case I end up in that kind of mud. I can tell you that I've never heard my tires and I've taken a 1200 mile round trip to Idaho and back. My exhaust isn't loud at all so I'd rate these tires as quiet. So quiet, in fact, that I'm going to seriously look into the BFG Mud Terrain KM2s for my next tires.

Thanks Satellite.

It's good to hear they are quite. This is why I really have begun an interest with the BFG A/T. It gives me the look of my old mud tires, but will drive smooth like the pirelli scorpions I am currently running. I just need somebody to buy my tires. I have them listed on ebay, craiglists, the classified section on this forum, and I've told a few of my friends to spread the word. As soon as I get a buyer, I am going to buy the BFGs, really cannot wait.

One more question guys. a 305 is a 33" tire correct? In fact, as timidone pointed out, is less tall than a 285/70/17. Would a wider tire have the ability to skew speed calibration? Or will it be equivelant to a 285/70/17? I ask because I don't want the transmission shop to claim that the tires could mess with the transmission. I got rid of the 35" tires because they were in fact taller than usual. Hope my question makes sense.

Does this site look trustworthy?? It's the best price I've seen for these tires in this size.

As far as the width goes for the tires go you need to watch your rim width. If your running those stock offroad rims which are great, you need something that will fit an 8" rim. Looking at the chart, a 285/70/16 is perfect for your rim and what I would recomend just as Timidone has suggested. The 305's arn't ment for your rim, but technically are do-able I guess. Just depends on if you want to take a chance on rubbing, and if you want to take a chance with a tire size not ment for your rim. Wish ya luck!

Perfect. I remember when I was running the 35/12.5/17 tires, I had some rub at full lock. I am prepared for some rubbing though, I think the looks and performance of the tire will supersede any rubbing issues. My ultimate goal is to buy the 305/70/17 BFG a/ts, and then have a 1" coil spacer installed in the front. I'm pretty sure a 1" spacer won't throw anything off in the front end. Just got to keep determined at getting my tires sold and then I can follow these little dream inside of my head=). Thanks everyone for the reviews on the tire, it was very helpful to me.

They are 305/65/17's that you want I guess. I still think the 285 is the answer, but do what you gotta do. Good luck!

1" spacer up front should work great.

People have told me to avoid spacers...something about not a good idea for off road and undue pressures on the rig. What I heard...I thought.

I have 35's and I have no rub but I bought the truck like it is so I don't know if the previous owner took precautions for any rub issues.
