It is very doable. The problem is you have to redo the whole front end to deal with the extra wieght, the tranny wont match, and if you were smart you would redo the rear end to handle the extra power. Not to mention, you well have to install a trans temp gauge either in the dash or on top of it. I dont know if you would have to redo the wiring harness or not.... the plugs might already be there.

Its doable, but not practical. With trucks being so freaking cheap, trade yours for a Cummins. I saw a guy do this swap into his 1500 on another fourm(shti i thing i broke Dodgefourm rules!). He had to swap frames, wiring harnesses, and drivetrain. the only thing that was origional on his truck when he was done was his cab, interior, and bed.

Check your local dealers and any that are close to you for 08 cummins. I found a Laramie SLT 3/4 ton in Hempsted, TX for $27k brand new. Dodge is doing all it can to get rid of the 08's and that includes the diesels. At one time my brother was going to sell in 06 Mega Cab 3/4 ton Cummins for $25k. Only has 18k miles but when he found out they were discontinuing it he changed his mind.

Yes... it is doable, but a serious PITA.

I have seen one in a Dakota before as well... I think there are some threads about it over on PavementSucks.
