The Rancho 9000XL's are good shocks. IIRC, they have a 7 way adjustable stiffness setting on them.
I personally really like my Edlebrock IAS performer shocks, but my 2wd is a street queen.
The quick and easy way to check for the AUX tranny cooler is to look for 2 parallel tubes running bewteen the AC condenser and the radiator in the front of the truck on the passenger side. There about a third of the way up and run at about a 30* angle.
I wouldn't sweat the tranny too much unless you're plowing in OD.

Lol there is soo much mis information in this thread it's not funny. Thankfully Off_Road_Teacher stepped in and told you the correct info.
Basically what he said is about right. There was a Offroad model offered in 00 and 01. It is no where near the same or even similar to the sport model however, some trucks had both the sport package and the offroad package. The sport package was basically just color matched grilles and bumpers. Then it had headlights that were clear instead of that texture the non sport ones have and it used 2 bulbs in each side instead of 1. It also had the sport decals. Not sure if it had different wheels or not on the non Offroad Sport Editions. You also have a different front bumper and grille on the later model sports than you would of the same year non sport.
Now the offroad edition was a totally different package. It had nothing to do with the bumpers or anything else. It had special edition 17" wheels, 4.10 gears, 1.5-2" of lift, skid plates, trussed front axle, (I think it had the heavy duty group but not 100% positive), larger but not longer shocks, factory LSD, offroad badging, and probably some more things I'm forgetting.
The lift is gained from taller coil springs. Shocks in no way shape or form give you lift. I think the rear leaf pack may have a extra leaf also but not 100% positive on that either.
You can basically either use a lift that replaces the coil springs and all like say a 5" Skyjacker kit for example and you would have 5" of lift over a regular ram and be about 3"-3.5" higher than yours started out. Now you can't just take 3" spacers and throw them on as that would give you 4.5"-5" of lift and it will put the front end parts at angles they shouldn't be at and you will wear the front end parts out way faster than they should.
If you go higher than a 3" lift you need lots of front end parts to go with it. This is why 5" kits have soo many more parts than a 3" kit.
Now some 3" kits will work fine but you will only gain a 1-1.5" lift. This is if you get one with new coil springs. However, even if it's a kit that uses spacers you shouldn't use it unless you buy the other parts needed. Now if you get a kit that replaces the coil springs you can use it fine.

i didnt say anything about bumpers being different. unless someones else did. but i just wanted to kno if dodge actaully came out with a offroad package, vs someone just slapping on some thing and badges and calling it a offroad package which off_road_teacher and you^ have both said its a real package offered from dodge. and that solves what i was wondering bc i do have the offroad edition. and thanks for the lift info. i figured about the front end parts i had to do the same with my cherokee when i lifted that 6.5".

so i put on a flowmaster 40 series muffler... it sounds amazing until i put the turned down on. now it sounds muffled and like theres a hole somewhere. but didnt sound like that before the turn down was put on, there are also no leaks around the turn down of muffler. should i have just gone with a cat-back lol.
