Default offroad ??

ok well this has been in my head for awhile since i got the truck. i bought a 00 dodge ram 1500 has a 5.9 now it has the offroad edition. now my question is.... did dodge really come out with a offroad edition ram? mine does sit alot higher then all ram 1500's ive seen. it does have the offroad badge on the tailgate. and i dont think the person who had the truck would do this. it was a older person who only put 5,000 miles on a year. its just been bugging me so ive been trying to figure this out.

they had the off road and the sport editions both are practically the same they are comparable to the z71 from chevy. They have a little longer shocks on them to make them look lifted but thats about the only difference

ok so what about when your looking up for lets say lift kits or something like that where it asks for either the sport or non. it would still be considered sport correct? what years was the offroad edition offered? i did notice mine does have a high stance and more wheel gap then most 1500s. ill post some pics.

yea it would be. I'm not sure on the exact years but they for a couple of years had the off road edition and I'm almost positive that was the same as the sport. Cause what it was was an additional package you got from mopar. like leather seats you could get the sport or off road package. They do sit a little higher because they have longer shocks thats about the extent of it. I always thought they had a factory lift kit on them but they don't They have a little beefier suspension and thats about it. But you get like 500+more in blue book on them too.

ya i noticed that the blue book is higher for the offroad package. another question... so im thinkin about lifting it more. but say i were to get a 3" lift after taken the stock stuff off would it sit the same as what it was at due to the higher stance already or would i get the additional 3". sorry for all the questions lol, i moved from imports to the truck so kinda a newbie with the trucks. i had a lifted cherokee but that was easy from stock lol.

Off road package is not the same as a sport. It has skid plates, a two inch factory lift, a 4.10 factory limited slip gear ratio, trans cooler, 17 inch rims and a higher amp alternator if memory serves me.

Say for instance you replaced the stock front springs with 3" lift springs, you would only get 1" of lift instead of 3". This is because the off road package front springs are 2" taller than stock front springs on a 1500 ram and the amount of lift is based off the height of stock springs.

Thank you for that info. thats what i was looking for. cuz i dont wanna spend the money on a 3" lift and only get a 1" out of it.

also im not sure about the trans cooler, but i do have the 17" rims, skid plates. not sure about the 4.10 gears. i wish there was a easy way to tell if i do have all this different stuff
