Default Need some help....Temp gauge not working

I know there is other threads about this........I have aready used the search on here but I can't figure it out.

The temp gauge has quit on my 99 Ram 5.9

The gauge sits all the way cold until you shut the truck off......The once you start it up again it reads alittle bit of heat but goes right back to nothing.

So far I have tried 3 different sending units with zero luck.

Any other ideas I can try? Thanks

try the gauge/cluster self test. hold odometer trip meter button in and turn key to on. continue holding button in until odometer reads CHEK, and then release it. cluster will self test, turning all lights on, and then sweep all gauges to about 1/4, then 1/2, then full. see how your temp gauge acts.

It moved right along with the rest of the gauges?

The three sensors you tried were new ones I assume? That test shows you that the IC gauges are working, not the sensor or wiring or the signal from the PCM. So carefully check the wiring from the sensor to the PCM and from PCM to IC.

Yes, The 3 sensors were new.....I figured I might have bought a couple of bad ones so I swap them out to be sure.

Check engine light is still kicking the engine coolant temp sensor code.

I think the plug connection is bad or the wiring going to the PCM.

I wonder if the dealership sells the plug connection? Or where to get one?

Fixed it........Dealership only sell a complete wiring harness. So I went to the junk yard today and got another plug connection and about 3 inches of the wires and wired it to my truck and everything is back to normal.

Thanks guys!
