Default electric fan install ?

Hey guys , so i finaly fixed my motor problem

after installing a new S belt in the process, i guess my water pump was on its way out as well with 100k on it.... newly tentioned belt must have finished it off

so my question is , has anyone installed an electric fan , and goten completely rid of the stock water pump driven one? If so , can you say that you saw a preformance increase, or a fuel savings increase?

I read a while back , that putting on an electric fan , in place of an engine driven one , was one of the best and cheapest things you could do to increase your mileage? is this true?

Keep in mind its going on a 5.9 gasser, 2500, and will be used for plowing ( has been) higher temps are a problem in the first place.... but over all this is a work truck , Im not lookin gto sink dollars into it , unless i see some out of the install

i bought the flexalite black magic 180.300$ i think it flowed 3300cfm.it keeps my truck the same temp at all times,no matter what the temp is out side.as a performance mod, it freed the motor to rev a little quicker.not a big difference though.and for the mpg's, i never noticed any improvement.

if i was to do it again,i would spend the money on something else.my opinion.

the clutch fan is pretty tuff to get off.lol

now that winter is almost here
it is possible to simply run without
the clutch fan blades bolted up
to test out
at low cost
what an electric fan would really do for you

i cant guess , and i cant run with out a fan .... plowing includes flooring the petal , and only driving about 5 mph...... i charge 150 per hour, so a break down would cost more in lost business than the part -

look into a dual fan setup if you plowing... kick one on during normal driving and have the 2nd on hand if you need it for plowing. better to have & not need than need & not have...

I would think an efan would be a big help plowing. The biggest reason I went with one is that I'm moving so slow off-road down here in the south, in the summer heat. The clutch fan really sucks for cooling if your RPM's are not up there, but the efan ALWAYS moves that constant 3300 cfm of air, even at idle.
Seems to me, unless you plow at 50 mph, you'd see a benefit from an efan...

make sure you check the cfm rating also.it should flow 3000 cfm or more.

if he goes with 2 cfm is not as big an issue...

on the CTD's some have tried to put dual 3300's on there and still overheated (different I know but worth mentioning).
