Default is this the death flash sticker?

I never drove this truck before I bought it with a blown up engine 177,000 mi. its a 2000 ram 1500 slt 2wd with the 5.2. I replaced the engine with a 96 5.2 from a dakota with 60,ooo.Changed out some sensors that didnt match up,fuel rail etc. FIRED RIGHT UP SOUNDED VERY STRONG! But to drive it was a entirely different story. WHAT A DOG! NO POWER OFF THE LINE,but sort of gets it together as my speed increases. I was wondering if this was the death flash thing?
Also will having the distributer out of its origional position create a no power issue?

I would say if you have a sticker you have the flash. Have you checked the plenum ?

Not sure on the distributor. I know if the wires aren't routed exactly right (there is a TSB on that), it can cause loss of power. But so can the death flash, and pretty sure thats what you have.

Did you check the plenum gasket in the new engine, by any chance? Make sure it was 100%?

As far as the Dist. goes. It is not adjustable and need to be in the right position.

yes, that's the death flash. almost all of them have it. to remedy it, you can try the crank position mod, or install a 4* +/- timing sprocket, or find a used hypertech or superchips tuner or B&G or SCT or other high end custom tunes.

as said above, a leaking belly pan gasket on the plenum also sucks out a lot of power. bad TPS can also make an engine stink like a pig.

Make sure you don't have a blown plenum gasket before you go getting a hypertech or advancing the timing. If the gasket is blown, it needs to be fixed before you go any further. Just because it has the death flash doesn't mean the gasket is blown. But if you program it or advance the timing, it could lead to the gasket blowing.
