Like you said, you might be able to get out of it if you explain. Depends on what mood the cop is in. I would prefer to avoid it. I won't be going till this evening. Maybe someone on here will come up with something this afternoon.

Air switching solenoid circuit open or shorted. I think it's the IAC. What is the problem if any with the way the truck runs?

I found a friend of a friend who let me use his scanner. The only code coming up is P0720- Output shaft speed sensor. It's not the one on the diff. it's the other one. Does anyone know if it is on the transfer case or trans.? If there is one on both how do I know which one is bad? Only symptom seems to be shifting at wrong speed. Thanks for your help.

speed sensor is on the output shaft, so on a 4wd its on the t-case. cant remember which side, driver's i think. its the only electrical connector back there and its easy to get to. also cheap, about $20 at autozone. a small amount of fluid come out when you remove the old one, so be sort of quick with the swap.

So did we find a definite answer to the code 36,by cycling the ignition? My 96 360 seems to be doing the exact same thing.I took off felt like it was lagging almost seemed like it didnt want to shift, when it did shift it felt as if it wanted to stall.Put it in park gave it a little rev and it died out.Turned the key over and it started right up,went to normal idle then dropped, and continued untill it was turned off.
Forgot to mention I have no way of getting this to say an auto zone so Im looking around on the internet.Only way to get to work so im hoping we find out a definite answer, guess you could say this is my only resort and the moment.

Just went outside to run it a bit,and the most horrible smell was coming from it,hard to describe. I would say it was like getting stuck behind one of those old ford trucks, you know of the ones...bed rusted through, four different kind of rims, smoking everywhere. That would be the only thing that I can associate with the smell. It smells the exhaust only "amplified" three fold. Could this be a clogged cat?Could this all of a sudded keep my truck from running?
