don't waste your time with a chip.

you need LT headers if you want top end power.

On a 99% stock engine, you will lose bottom end with LT headers. If the engine is modified further, however, you may not.

Here are common upgrades that many forum members have done, that I recommend, in no particular order:

SCT Tuner (Superchips Flashpaq is OK, but as you upgrade further, you will take advantage of them fully by using custom SCT flashes, not a "canned" tune like the Superchips)

Fastman 52mm Throttle Body

Modified "Keggar" (Intake Manifold)

MSD Ignition System

CAI or 14x3 round air cleaner (or at least K&N drop-in for stock air cleaner)

1.7RRs if you don't plan on doing a cam upgrade; if you do, go 1.6RRs

Electric Fan(s)

If you don't have them already, 4.10 gears (or higher), especially with those size of tires.

General electrical tune-up (new cap, rotor, wires, and plugs), if you want to be real thorough, index the plugs.

If you want to get real serious, supercharger.

And many more that I am missing that others, I'm sure, will post.

thats the best time to do it.

but if you just want a tuner... SCT is the best on the market, diesel or gas. (besides maybe smarty in the case of the cummins :P )
