Exclamation ok i really need help guys

ok guys my truck is really falling apart. The tranny is slipping the 4wd stopped working altogether...again... the rear end is whining(and the posi magically stopped working) it uses like 3 quarts of oil in 2800 mi and now my speakers are going too plus some rust showed up as well.

Ok so i'm 18 yrs old and I dont have the money fix this and i'm a little pissed to say the least.

My dad is all mad as well he doesnt wanna put money down in this money pit i have here.

Now, i always wanted a diesel. Dad thinks its a stupid idea cuz diesel is more expensive....i said they get much better gas mileage than mine (12 highway/ 10.5 in town) I said they get 18-21 on the highway and 15 around town.

He didnt wanna hear it. so i figured if i got some research done and proved that a diesel would be a better choice than fixing my heap i might have a chance. So I need help with researching this...i need to prove to him that diesels cost less to run than my gas hog. I do tow and i do do a lot of highway driving so i believe that it wouldnt be overkill to get one. plus I'd get a 2000-2003 model not anything new.

I do have a job so i do have a means of paying for it I run premium in my truck cuz of my tuner at 2.08 per gal and diesel is about 3.19 here.

Any help, thoughts or comments would be greatly appreciated.

I just had an additional question.....the plenum gasket causes a massive vacuum leak right? so maybe thats why my 4wd isnt workin and would explain the loss of oil.....any thoughts?

If you used 3 qts of oil and the plenum is leaking enough to cause your cad not to engage then I believe the engine would be running really bad and throwing some kind of code.

sorry to hear that, you got a nice truck man, look down in your throttle body for a pool of oil, and maybe check your tranny fluid, also look for a smell of burnt, or a color change in the fluid, or maybe you need to add more,

my truck whines in reverse in the cold , also alot of dodges do and its noithing less if youare having diffrent trouble.

i want a diesil to i want the 5.9 one . not the 6.7

Not tryin to sound mean but, I'm sure this all didn't just happen. you needed to address the problems when they started...they have compounded now and things really look bad.. I would not know where to start fixin.. I guess the engine first, if plenum not leaking find out why ur loosing oil, try to decide what needs attenison next rearend or trans...unless you really need 4wd save that for last...goodluck

well honestly I put all new seals in the front end when my 4x4 stopped working the first time and put new oil in the diff. The 4x4 worked great. I tried it the other day when we got some snow on the roads...nothing as for the tranny it started slipping like 2 weeks ago and has been getting worse and as for the oil i switched to synthetic from conventional I just checked it at 2800 and there wasn't very much in there. Maybe the switch had something to do with it? When I used conventional it would lose about 1 quart before i changed the oil....the truck does seem to have a rougher idle but its been that way since i bought it...maybe the plenum has been bad since i bought it?

To convince your Dad on the Diesel (speaking as one-a dad not a diesel )lol ..If he doesn't want to spend money on fixin what you have now .. then find a good deal on a diesel with using your truck as trade and knowing someone that your dad knows with a diesel and have him be a partner in showing the benefits of the diesel and the deal you found... and showing that you can handle the payments and insurance on your own helps too (If you do it now)..
