Stalls in reverse
I'll try out putting it into neutral but for the most part I just want it to work like it should. I'll also check out the IAC valve. I did see this listed on another post as a possibility with another stalling issue. Thanks all for your help on this one. I'll keep posted as to what I get figured out.
My truck does that as well but I drive it everyday, it only happens once every 3 months or more but I'll be driving around for hours or all day and I'll end up putting it in reverse (to turn around or whatever) and it will stall. But the weird thing is after I put it back into park or neutral and start it, the engine seems to have half the power, like it's only running on 4 cylinders?!?!?
So I have to turn the engine off and start it again and then it's fine like nothing happened... This only happened 2 or 3 times a year but it's weird. Any thoughts???
BTW: it's a 03 ram 1500 5.7

ok it stalls in reverse...when you shift it to drive when it passes reverse does it stall? Do you have to start in neutral, then put it into drive so you dont have to pass reverse? Or does it stall when reverse is completly engaged?
Mine did the same thing right after the reman tranny was installed. The builder said he was pretty sure it was a pump issue. He said there was a bulletin on them. He had my original tranny on the bench, built it and put it back in and problem solved.
I have a 1999 1500 with a 5.9 which is having a similar problem. I live in Canada and now that it is cold out, my truck is stalling in reverse but not in drive. A couple of mornings ago, it stalled at least 15 times before I could get backed away from the house but at the same time I could drive ahead without any problems. The truck had been running for about 5 minutes to warm up. After driving it to town (about 5 miles) I never have anymore problems for the day but in the morning, it is the same thing all over again.
