I want light weight metals in OEM specs for the engine I dont care much for turbo chargers and Im not into racing or show boating. I just need an alternative store that sells stuff like yearone. But wont make me rush down to the hospital to donate plasma or bone marrow for some cash like the dealership. Im kinda allergic to forking over my first born for some crate engine. I do everything my self I just need more options than 4 stores! Unlike most my truck doesnt sit in the drive way while I pray unto it hopeing it doesnt get hit or fudged in the parking lot. Id like a little more clearance underneath but Im against forging a beast.

why is it when I wanna rebuild this truck people try and talk me out of it... and give me some pissy remark about trading the truck in for a newer one... bet if it was a crappy mustang or camaro or some other garp everybody would be at arms length to help me out but whatever. Any legitimate ppl on here that wanna rebuild their truck or just sterotype it up with cold air intake advice and some retarded catback system. Anyone whos into rebuilding their dodges or custom fab jobs must be dieing off and I guess the ones left are stuck foreging for themselves. Yeah let me bow out of the ring and allow ppl to sway me into believing that leaving an engine with 400k+ then throwing performance chips and other insane features on the poor truck is rebuilding. WOW!? Guess to be on this forum just owning a truck is good enough to donate advice. Whew better get the swampers and matching rims before the truck has time to know whats happened. Guess showboating overrides cognative thought but I have a family that uses this truck kinda hard to put a stroller and a few respectable people into something thats 20 feet off the ground and sounds like god ridding on his white horse bringing the end with him down the street. Anyone with legitamate advice please respond!

To the OP, I have noticed that depending on your location depends on what parts your local shops will carry, I am slowly building a CJ5 and I ususally have to have all my parts shipped in even from the local Kragens, and Auto Zone. Look around in junkyards/salvage yards, most of those can also order stuff for you from other yards, if you are wanting to go stock talk to the dealerships they also may be able to get parts for you.

You have to realize that your truck is ~14 years old and original parts are going to be hard to find, it is not considered a classic yet so you wont find alot of factoryt Reman parts for restoring quite yet, you will have to do foot work in your area, Craigs list can get you about anything, as will Ebay. You cvan also look into getting a few donor trucks, you can usually find wrecked ones that have some parts you need for a few hundred bones, use what you need then part out what you don't need and make some or all of your money back.

Also this is a public forum where Ideas will be forced down your throat and you will not liek the taste if it is not what you want to hear, thick skin is needed in a internet forum.

Hey man, no offense but if you want to do something to the truck, the first thing YOU have to do is check to whole damn thing. Compression test, leakdown test, check the whole engine. Once you know your engine, you know what will be your next purchase.
You will never have the answer spoon fed over here, you'll have to search and research to find answers. The fact that you found this forum one day means that you made a search or got this url from a friend or something. That's how ALL of us found this site and other great sites. This site is probably the best site you will have found, it's completely FREE! You get all of the info for free and that for the rest of your life.
There's also the fact that you drive a dodge truck, not a yugo or something... Dodge parts costs more.
The less you want to pay, the more creative you will have to be:

If you want a cold air intake = make your own!
If you want alloy rims= buy used ones and refurbish them!
If you want pistons= buy em new and good quality, you WILL regret buying cheap*ss sh*t!
The last thing goes for allmost all of the engine parts except maybe heads and accesory's, if you do buy them second hand, buy them from a reliable person or company.

By the way, summit racing is a nice shop for performance parts, for OEM parts, try rockauto.com (they have cheap parts!).

Greetz,

Bigster
