Post Death Flash Info If U R Interested...

...if not, leave your comments at the door and move on...

I have been researching more about the death flash crap, so hopefully this may help someone who has the same sticker as me. My sticker has no date on it, so I had to go by part #. This is what I found:

My sticker part # is 56040273AE, which is old...the new correlating # is 56040273AG.

That part # carries with it 5 possible TSB's which are:

18-006-02 REV C (Jun 02): Engine – Surge/Lack of Power in 3rd Gear/Erratic Shifts

18-011-01 (May 01): MIL Illumination (POO71 Battery Temperature Sensor Performance or P0135 or P0141 Oxygen Sensor Heater Performance)

21-004-01 (Feb 01): Overdrive Disabled to Improve Transmission Reliability During Cold Temperature Operation

25-001-01 (Feb 01): Generic Scan Tool May Not Display Certain DTC’s and Erroneous LDP Switch Fault

25-002-01 (Feb 01): Scan Tool Erroneously Displays P0000 For DTC's P1740 And P0461

So, since my truck was mfr in March 2001, I guess mine was flashed for one of the first two TSB's. I don't think mine has the death flash...it runs pretty strong, and the plenum gasket is not blown. Hope this helps someone out...

EDIT: If anyone knows more about this, here's everything on my sticker:

P/N P56040273AE
S/N TEH08512MEC3
HRB2AA (?)
SEQUENCE # 599920 (?)

Excuse my stupidity, but where is this "Death Flash" sticker supposed to be located?

You have it. It was not a tsb. It was flashed that way straight from the factory. Pre mid 2000's will have the hand written software update sticker (if they do indeed have the death flash).

I assume you are talking about my truck then?
Hmm, never had a problem with power, but then again if it was always like that, I would not have known.

i think these two were the death flash that reduced the timing advance.
Date: Jan 26, 2001. 18-002-01
Date: Feb 28, 2003. 18-006-03. supersedes TSB 18-002-01 dated Jan 26, 2001.
http://dodgeram.info/tsb/2003/18-006-03.htm

i think this means that any flash after mid-2000 has it, and all late 2000 and 2001 models had it from the factory.

Mr. Lucky here...jk. You'll truly have a beast when you're done. Mine is fine right now...gets decent gas mileage and pulls anything I need to pull, so I don't sweat it too much. May get a Superchips or Hypertech some day...not shellin' out $600 for SCT for a DD.
