So yea driving my truck today i got written up for my muffler being too loud, have to have that fixed by the 15th thinkin i will just throw in a pos muffler before my muffler to quiet it down to pass, but then we stopped at one place and i got out with my truck still running and it is one **** of a rattle coming out of my engine bay, so i get home and let it idle to see and it sounds like its coming from my crank, so time for new engine, one problem im going to school so money is an issue.
To answer some questions i used a short pipe and listened around and the crank is where the noise seems to be coming from....so f*ck my life today has been hell
If a rod or main bearing is going out the oil pressure should have dropped significantly, Doubt its a broken in half crank since it stills seems to be running
What kind of noise is it? Is it a knocking sound or constant rattling? Does the frequency increase with engine speed? Checked for codes? Any backfires? Exhaust leaks?
Lions and tigers and bears, Oh my! JK...seriously, though, calm down and see what it is before you head for the liquor store. I agree with everyone else, could be the timing chain, which isn't that much $$$ to fix.
it had 340000 kms on it the timing chain is original its runs good, its more of a rattleing sound and it seems to go away if it is reved up a little bit
