I have a 99 Dodge Ram 1500. V6 magnum. All my gages go down and that no bus comes up where my mileage is. It's a wire and short in the circuit somewhere.. You can fix every short. You have, but also I notice I tap Is on my - Speedometer. - and it goes right back off.
Give me a break. Its not a design flaw, just a problem with a few old trucks. These trucks are getting a older now, so you will see some problems. Don't blame the manufacturer. Oh, and this is NOT a common problem with these trucks.
I would start with pulling the plugs off and cleaning all the contacts with some sort of electrical cleaner. Sounds to me like something isn't quite making constant contact.
It's not just an old dodge truck problem? I have a customer with a 2012 avenger, same issues, Dakota's, rams, jeeps? It's definitely a Chrysler Mopar issue thru many years. Only car I see with no buss codes or all kinds of other no comunication with PCM. Only car line that needs new PCM which is the fix most times. So I'd check the pin retention at the PCM for the ccd and bus contacts if that's good it's new PCM time.
pin retention refers to the connector ability to make a good connection on the pins of the ecm. You said you cleaned both sides, but does any of the tiny connectors look burned or spread apart more than the others?
