Leaning back will add more weight to the back wheels for a better launch.
Empty out your center console, and all the change that fell out of the coin holders, asl well as all those unpaid speeding tickets in the glovebox.
Also heard running a qt low helps too, but nothing i'd recommend.

I don't know about taking any weight off the rear of the truck.
Want your weight over those rear tires to help not spin off the line.
Lower your air pressure to about 20psi in the back. And, max-out
the pressure in the fronts. Smoke the hell out of the rears before
getting to the line,.. Want your tires nice and hot & sticky as possible.
Go one quart low on oil also for the race like said before. (I know this
nets me a constant tenth at the track in my Mustang). DON"T let the truck
go into 4th gear either! It will kill your ET.

If he is running a regular tire it makes no sense to go through the water box. the water get inbetween the treads and stays in the grouves until the tires sits still. Therefore letting all the water run down to the pavement, therefore reducing traction. I know from experience we have a 01 Trans Am with street tires, stay out of the water box.
