ok so i picked up my truck today and My total was around 346. I have to pay it off by working there at the dealership again.

95 for the tow
186 for the labor
60 for the pump
+ tax.

They put my old pump in the back of my truck and turns out part of the gear shaft broke off. Im not sure the pump really needed to be replaced (only the gear shaft) but my uncle is the kind of guy that says "if one thing is broken fix the other so that the old one doesn't break the new one" Here's some pics (sorry for the blurriness my camera was on the far away setting and i didnt feel like changing it lol)

Somthing hard must have got caught in the pump to make the intermediate shaft shear off like that. Whatever it was, I hope it's not caught in an oil passage somewhere.

yeah i thought it was pretty weird. Whatever it was it probably came out with the oil right? Because there is no way the pump could have moved it anywhere being that it died.

It probably fell out when they took the pump cover off. You are probably OK. I wouldn't loose any sleep over it.

be glad the motor didn't seize or blow, and be glad you got it fixed.

question - does that gear/long shaft drop down off the cam ? how do you get that out ?

The oil pump shaft is driven by the cam gear and drives both the oil pump and disty. It can be pulled out through the disty hole without removing the intake. I'm sure the dealer has a special tool.

Don't know. Had to be some kind of FOD (Air Force lingo for trash that can damage an engine).
