I think for single, I would go with 3". For a dual, I would go with 2.5". It's up to you. Either would sound good. I kind of like the 3" single set-up myself.

EDIT: Forgot to mention, I have a single 2.5" with a Thrush glasspack and side exit and it's deep toned.

I'm running a single 3" and I like it.
If you want duals you might want to look at 2.25"

well i am not sure if i want a true dual or just two pipes out the rear.
i heard more trucks with a good deep sound that is not to loud then a single
out the side. so i think i might be going towards a dual setup

True duals, just in case (some people get confused), means the pipes NEVER touch each other. Two mufflers (or none), two converters (or none), one pipe from each manifold/header to its own exit.

No offense to any of you guys. Reason I explain this is I've seen a recent increase online of people claiming they have true duals with a single muffler, converter, and/or y-pipe involved. It makes me shake my head, I thought it was common sense.

Oh, and I have a single 3" pipe and I am very pleased. y-pipe from manifolds to 3" converter to 2.5" pipe to 2.5" muffler to 2.5" pipe that expands to 3" right before the bend to exit out at stock location.
