Dumb question here, but where is the drain plug on a 97 Ram with the 318 engine? I've found a plastic cap type plug on the drivers side of the radiator, but it will only turn about 1/4 turn. Is that it and is it suppose to turn further than this. Sorry for the silly question but I haven't seen a drain plug like this before. Thanks.

 

Yep, thats it. It don't turn around like the old brass ones did. Just a quarter turn and I think you pull on it then. Don't force it!

turn 1/4 turn, then pull out slightly and turn the last 1/4 turn. hook a tube up to the nipple of the drain **** so you don't spill coolant everywhere, the drain **** is very stupidly positioned directly over the frame rail and it splatters coolant everywhere.

no problem, I've pulled that thing out about 20 times in the last 2 years or so.

 

I drained my Radiator in the same fashion described here, refilled it, now I have a slow leak, seems like a seal in the drain plug. Is there a way to replace just the plug itself? I would hate to replace the whole radiator. To be more specific it is dripping out of the drain ****. Any suggestions?.?.? And please keep it clean...

 

I think it has an o-ring on the plug, I may be wrong.
