Blue/white spark is what you are looking for.
The only information in the shop manual on the CPS is for removal and replacement. It does state a 5 volt signal is generated to send its signal which fires the ignition circuitry.
Try and see if you are getting pressure out your tailpipe when you are cranking the engine. If not your catalytic or exhaust could have gotten plugged like charlie1935 said..

i was thinking that, what is the easiest way to check the timing? where is the crank sensor exactly?

Mine just went through this a few weeks ago after i checked some of the easy stuff off the list such as a new cap and rotor cam sensor and coil (all needed to be replaced due to age anyway) my truck would start and run until it came up to temp then it would buck and stall and not restart until cool again then i replaced the crank sensor and it has been fine ever since. to test the crank sensor you are looking for a 3 volt then 5 volt then 3 volt signal from the crank sensor my book said it is very hard to get actual readings from this but you are looking to see a fluctuation in voltage to make sure the sensor is reading
the things you need to start an engine are fuel air spark and timing. if you have air fuel and spark you are most likely loosing timing. timing is controlled by the pcm by the readings it gets from the cam sensor crank sensor and other sensors.
the crank sensor is located behind the pass side valve cover in the bell housing you can not see it with out a mirror but you can feel it it is held in with two bolts.
hope this helps.

i'll give that a try. but i didn't have any problems to begin with and now it won't even fire. i think that the timing might have skipped a tooth b/c it seems to role over pretty fast. but that just from listening to it.

problem solved! bad gas + plugs, wires, cap and rotor needing to be replaced = no start
runs fine once i replaced at that stuff and put dry gas in the tank.
