I just bought my 2001 Dodge Ram with a 5.9L and Auto trans. I have had it for 2 weeks now and I love my truck.. Love it. lol I did want a 5spd, but they seem really hard to find. You will love what I paid... it has 68k on it.. and I paid $6300. That's only because I went though my uncle who has a dealer license so I got it for trade in value instead of retail. I do like truck 1 4 and 5. Get some more pictures of those trucks tho. Truck 2-3 are shady looking like other people have said. And truck 2 looks like it was beat to hell. Truck 5 looks really clean, and from that blurry picture so does truck 4. Let us know when you drive them!

Ah yes, he said similar to truck #1, didn't he? My bad, for some reason I thought he meant that #4 and #5 were nearly identical except for the paint and mileage. Whoops.

alright, well... just thought i'd add my two cents about truck number 2 that nobody seemed to touch on... The shady guy says the axle nut is cross threaded, which someone already pointed out, wouldn't thread on and would be very noticeable... What about the point of 4wd doesn't work properly and could have much more expensive issues... Just thought i'd point that out. a 5 spd is awesome as that's what i have, but make sure your feeling that clutch pedal well, the distance to the floor to the grab point... The greater the distance is the greater the time before the clutch needs to be replaced...

Truck 4 looks good in my opinion minus the bad picture... But just check on it all, and feel it out, if it feels weird, DON"T DO IT!

okay i have a easy question now...

I was looking at a 97' dodge ram 2500 online and it has a v8....
Whats the difference between a 97' 1500 with a v8 and a 97' 2500 with a V8?

I mean does the 2500 just weigh more and capble of towing more? the picture looks damn near identical to a 1500 to me, just with 2500 badging. Do you guys recomend looking at a 2500? Can someone break down the differences?

i would definitely go with #3. when you have the bigger tires and lift, there isn't going to be much mpg difference between the 5.2 and 5.9. definitely newer truck with lower miles. you could even get 3 or 4 years out of it and sell it b4 you have problems.

As far as the engine goes there is no difference between the 1500 and the 2500. I believe it is just a heavier truck, and prolly has beefy shocks and I think it sits a little higher. But engine wise, both the same. If I am wrong on any of this, feel free to correct me.

No difference between the motors, but the change between the 1550 and the 2500 was the motor options.
In the 1500 for a V8 there was a 5.2 option and a 5.9 option.
In the 2500 the option was either 5.9 gas motor or the 5.9 diesel

EDIT: IMO I think that truck option 3 is your best bet. It looks like it has been taken care of. I know the automatic tranny is a concern, but was there another reason you are shying away from it? I would not be concerned about the dash crack, you cover that up or replace pretty easy. Also, Where are you people buying windshields for over $200? I just replaced min a month ago for $145 installed...

Is there a website where it compares the 1500 and the 2500?
I found a few but they dont list the weight or mpg

I cant find what kind of mpg the 2500 v8 gets...
And i wonder if the 2500 has a more heavy duty tranny?

Can anyone else tell me any more differences between the 1500 v8 and the 2500 v8?

the motor is the same
suspension and frame will be beefed up
transmission will be heavier duty
2500 will weigh more than the 1550 because of the frame changes

1500 is a 1/2 ton truck and the 2500 is a 3/4 ton truck. And I think the 2500 also had a V10 option as well.
