Default high idle causing bad gas milage

my truck is idling at 1500 to 2000 rpm it has a check engine light code p0505 which is the iac system i changed the iac cleaned the throttle body and checked the wiring and nothing i can hear a leak from the throttle body around the iac but i dont know what it could be and from all this im getting 6mpg. can anyone help with this?

Take some brake/parts cleaner and spray around the vacuum lines. One might be cracked, or holey.

yeah but why would the leak come from near the iac in like that chamber in the throttle body behind the plates. I can feel the are getting sucked into there and I don't know if somethings supposed to be there or not

You said you changed the IAC, right? Did it start happening right after? Maybe something popped off, or didn't get hooked back up?



The best thing I can think of is to take a good, full-sized photo of it and post it. I'm sure someone might see something out of the ordinary.

Perhaps the o-ring did not get installed with the new IAC?

it happened after the new iac had been in there for about a month and then i changed it again just incase that one had already gone bad. and im not sure if it came with an o-ring but why would it affect it a month after?
