You probably need to change the Oil pump. the pump shaft and receiver in the pump have probably chewed each other up. A new Melling high volume unit cost me $37 at Auto Zone a year ago.

While he's down there, you might as well have the rear main seal replaced too. It Shouldn't take more than a half hour's work, if he's pulling the oil pump off. Just loosen the Crankshaft bearings and take the one closest to the pump off, push out the old seals and snake in the new ones and tighten back up. You have to remove a lot of stuff to get the oil pan off, so you might as well get her all done if you can afford it.

Ok.. I talked to him he is going to do the Tranny, the Oil pump, shaft, and fix the exhaust all for the $1200... So, I have to get the truck over to him... My son works for a tire company, does big truck and trailer tires.. His boss also does repos, and has a nice tow truck, and told my son anytime we need it towed, let him know, so I got a free tow to his shop too! Can't ask for more than that... This might turn out to be a good year after all... of course I had to borrow some of the money to get it fixed from my dad, but he was the one that told me to get it done now, and he would help me out with it...
So, I can't WAIT to get it over there... The truck was $2200 out the door, $1200 to get it fixed, that's $3400 total in a 2000 Ram 1500 5.9 club cab... Not a bad deal..

Not a bad deal at all, as long as the main and rod bearings are ok. Now all you need to do is tell him they are charging another 400 for some other things they didn't know needed replacing, and slap some 1.7's in it.

Akkk I looked at a mirror to check, I AM my dad.... holy crap!
