Exclamation Remove Carpet from cab....

So I was thinking of removing my carpet in my cab...first thing I never could understand having carpet in a cab of a truck!

The carpet is cosmetic only..right? It doesn't insulate or anything like that...correct? Just to hide the wires and etc. Anyway ...

I thought of removing the carpet and spray the inside of the cab (bottom only) with linex or rhino...black color or something and wanted your all thoughts.

Any reason I should NOT do it?!? thanks in advance for feedback.

The carpet insulates, keeps road noise to a minimum, and makes it all around more comfy for your girl to take her shoes off and relax,

Keep the carpet or at least get rubber mats

Replace the carpet with vinyl, dodge makes it and was in some of their base trucks. It has a insulation back to it, hope this helps.

there are a lot of pre drilled holes in the floor so that may be an issue, but if you are going to remove it, it would put vinyl down instead of getting it rhino coated. they way if you ever have a wiring problem you can still get to them, and you wouldnt have to worry about relocating the wires that are there now.

if your carpet is dirty or stinky or you don't want it, just rip it out. there will be some insulation under it. you can leave it or take it out too. it does provide some sound and temperature insulation, however, trucks of old didn't have them.

motorbreath did the diy rhino stuff in his.

i'd think you could do anything you want... paint it, rhino it, put down oem vinyl floor, new oem type carpet, or diy home depot carpet. LMC probably has precut materials.

www.lmctruck.com sells a sweet set of covers that overlap and cover the entire cab floor... not cheap, but pretty nice.

My truck is an ST, and it has vinyl on the floor instead of carpet. I love it. It's so easy to clean, just brush out the heavy debris, and take a sponge or a rag to it, and it looks like new.

Yep, mines the same, I would hate if I had carpet.

My old truck, a '99 SLT, had carpet, and I didn't like it. When I got in with muddy and wet boots or shoes, it just soaked into the carpet and never seemed to dry. Now, with the vinyl, I can literally clean it with a bucket of soapy water. It also just feels like so much more of a truck with the rubber floor, I know it sounds dumb, but it's true.

+1...

Oh and btw, as far as the ladies go, the tingling of sand against a vinyl floor on the bottom of their feet just gets em hornier! LOL Besides that the heat from the CC radiating through the floor keeps em warmed up.
