A lot of people on here drive with OD off if they are driving in the 0-50ish mph range. That is just b/c it usually eliminates downshifting and provides better pick up. It's up to you...without the plow, you can drive either way.

i only turn OD on when i'm running over 60 and not towing. otherwise rpm's are low and it doesn't have much power and it shifts down/up all the time.

If its super hilly country I might keep the OD off for highway driving as well. I think its a feel thing for a lot of people, with most trannies on used trucks being in different states of working order. I will tow in OD as long as its a flat stretch.

Slightly off topic, is it abnormal to notice that my engine runs a little warmer on the highway with OD off? After all, RPMs are higher.
