Default noises in the ram

I have a Ram 1500, its got about 112,000 miles and im getting a new noise when i put the truck in drive and hit the gas. It's a loud "Clank". Sounds like a differential or transmission problem to me, however before i spend thousands on either i am looking for alternate opinions. thanks.

Does it "clank" when you put it into drive, or does it not do it until you hit the gas? Chrysler transmissions like ours are known to be "clank clank clank" and you feel when they shift/engage.

However, a "clank" only after you hit the gas might be a completely different animal/problem.

Could also be a U-Joint.

Could be, although thats usually a squeak or a pop from my experience.

Once it gets bad enough, assuming it's stock without a zirk fitting. They can get pretty loud. Depends on how much gas you're giving it too.

Easy to check and rule out, just crawl underneath and see if the driveshaft has any movement.

Sorry to hear that man....but it may not be the end of it yet, check the fluid in neutral on a level surface...see what that tells you, color, smell, etc.

tarnny fluid seems fine, however whati noticed today was that i drove it in 10 degree weather and it ran fine, but when the truck warmed up the tranny went **** again. i think it may just be the fluid i have in there, i need denser stuff.
