If it does it at part throttle, check your TPS.

i have a 98 dodge ram with a 5.9. my problem is that when i first start it, it runs fine, but if i shut if off and then restart it, it will fire up but then die right away, if i give it gas it will run fine, its just when i let off the gas then it will die. i have replace the coil on the truck several times before because moisture was getting in it. any help?

sounds like your idle air control is closing and staying closed when you kill it for some reason

Do you think if i sprayed some carb cleaner in the intake that it will free it up, or do you think it is the TPS?

the iac is the thing you see in the bottom left corner(red circle)....this is one already cleaned....yours will probably be black and crusty......its located on the very back of the tb(arrow)....the blue circle is where the air is actually coming in at and the IAC moves in and out to control it

Thank you very much for your help. i will try that and hopefully it works. Although i wont be able to get to it until this weekend. The truck is parked outside and we are currently having a blizzard right now.
