Keep in mind that readings can also be thrown by temp. The tire pressure will raise when you are on the highway and the tire heat up some. Measure when tire temps are cold.

I fill my tires at are fire station its only 1.5 miles away so there still cold.

Yeah, the press. on the sidewall is for maximum load capacity. Its all relative to what ply the tires are= if you have an 8 ply tire that calls for 80 psi max. on a 1500 then you'd more than likely to run 40-50 psi in them or whatever rides the best for you. Also if you run a larger size than stock you'll need to adjust the pressure to your needs. A good test is to run through the water and drive over some dry pavement and check the tread pattern to see how it contacts it.

I run 10 ply tires on my truck (freebies from work) and i forget what they inflate to. I wanna say max psi is like 90 on them.
