Broken axles... again.
Well 2 months ago or so I broke both my front axles ended up paying out the *** for 2 new axles thru this place... over paid, like 400 for both.
Now today I was wheeling again and I broke both ujoints, and one axle is ****ed...
I cant really tell as it sits if its just the ujoint on the other side that is broken, but I think that the axle is fine thank god.
Can anyone point me in a direction of some heavyer duty axles that wont cost me a million. Im going to pull the axles stubs off the end, and somehow hold the axles in there and just only have 2 wheel drive becasue I dont have the money to fix it right now.
The axle shaft its self isnt what is breaking, its the yolk that the ujoint goes in, I dont know if its the axle that give out first, or the ujoint goes out first and then there is still energy in there breaking the yolk.
Any helpful hints with be great...
I guess I just wheel too hard.
BTW, my ball joints are really bad right now, does anyone know if the bad ball joints would allow the axle to "twist" or somthing casueing this to happen???

From my experience you really need to get those hub's fixed. Thats why your snapping the u-joints and yokes. If that bearing has play in it its putting stress on the joint and yoke. I'm not any help on the heavy duty axels though.

99% of the time the u-joint breaks first and then it take out the ears of the shafts due to binding. There really isn't any upgraded shafts for our trucks. A good quality u-joint is the best option instead of parts store cheapies.
And about pulling the stub shafts and driving... that's a BIG no-no! You can pull the inner shaft and stuff the hole with a rag, but the outer has to be in cause the shaft and nut is what hold the hub bearing together. Without it the hub will not stay together with a little bit of driving.
Are the hubs in good shape? Any play?
Ball joints wont really have much to do with it, but they should be fixed as soon as you can afford it. They will wear your new tires out really fast... and that would have to **** ya off.
Oh, and I have seen complete axle shaft setups (inner and outer of one side with joints) sold for under 200 bucks.

My hubs are fine, so thats not the problem.
Thanks for the help this is pissing me off... I guess im gunna have to put some dana 60 axles in there pretty soon...
Also, what are the spicer ujoints ive herd to much about... are they really stronger? Because at this point I need somthing better... ive got duralast in there now.

Sorry i see you said ball joints not hub's now, read thru it too quick i guess and was making up my own words. Try Midwest truck, i know i saw something on some heavier dutie axles there awhile back (but i could be mistaken).
