pre-programmed consumer type chips have a software process that prevents sharing them. when you reprogram with a hypertech or superchips, it updates the device with the vin number that it just programmed. the only thing it will do after that is unprogram that same vin. then you can sell it to someone else.

a programming device that creates other pcm programs is a very expensive device. it would not be afforable (or usable) to the average joe.

There are a ton of websites out there but you can probably get your best price on e-bay or if someone on here is selling one.

 

sct/600$what everyone claims to be the best. i cannt say cause i havent tried it.yet.

superchip 3815/350$-400$ the one that i have now and like the best.

hypertech max energy/350$to400$ what i had first. its ok,but the 3815 gives you a little more hp gains.

those prices are new. if you look around,the hyper and the superchip can be had for around 200$ to 300$ used. just make sure there not vin # locked.

 

just so you know, buying used can be a gamble. i bought a used one on this forum for $150 and couldn't be happier. someone else bought one that was vin locked and was super pissed.

ask the questions of the seller -
is it vin locked ?
did you personally unprogram your truck ?

if they don't know what you're talking about, then don't buy it. $150-225 is a good price on a used one.

i want to add something. the thing that ticks me off is people who recommend stuff and have never even tried it. "how do you know if you havent even tried it? you going by what someone else told you?".... everyone knows how things get inflated one way or the other. the good get better and the bad get worse..... just my opinion.
